Abstract:
In an important decision that is likely to influence similar pending cases, the European Court of Human Rights has held that extradition to the U.S. to stand trial in the state court of the Commonwealth of Virginia on charges of murder would violate human rights law, thereby blocking extradition of Mr. Soering, a German national.
