Swiss Authorize Extradition to U.S. and Both U.S. and Swiss Promise More Prosecutions and FIFA Proposes Reforms

During the second week of September 2015, efforts to prosecute alleged wrongdoing in FIFA continued along with the announcement that the Swiss government has approved the extradition of a former FIFA official, Eugenio Figueredo to the U.S., announcements at a joint press conference by the U.S. and Swiss Attorneys General that they will continue and expand prosecutions, and announcements of reforms within FIFA of its procedures.  In addition, the Swiss government has passed “Lex FIFA” and is considering new legislation.
