Abstract:

A major arrest in Togo on August 9, 2013 marked a big step for dismantling ivory traffickers across Africa. Togolese shopkeeper Emile N'bouke, 58, is believed to have been involved in the ivory trade since 1976. He and an associate from Guinea were arrested in Lome, Togo following two raids on August 6th and 7th. The raids were the latest in a series of operations that have resulted in the arrests of approximately 900 traffickers.[2]
