Abstract: 
On November 1, 2001, the media reported the extradition by South Korea of Kang Hyum Gu, to the United States, marking the first person it has extradited in may years. In December 1999, the U.S. and South Korea concluded an extradition treaty. The extradition is the first tangible successful achievement under the treaty.
