Abstract:
When U.S. citizens think about Canada the issue of crime is not something that automatically leaps to mind. Usually Canada is upheld as a more peaceful society, with fewer and less acute problems pertaining to law and order and the costs associated to it. In a recent study conducted by the Vancouver-based Fraser Institute, the cost of Canadian crime has been quantified as at least C$16 billion or equal to two percent of GDP.
