Abstract:
At the end of July 2009, Namibia suspended the chief of the Namibian Defense Force, and expanded its criminal investigation of Chinese-financed contracts in Namibia. In July 2009, Namibia started criminal investigations of bribery involving a contract to supply Namibia with scanners at security checkpoints. With respect to that investigation, Namibian investigators have said they want to question Hu Haifang, the son of China’s president Hu Jintao who until late last year headed Beijing-based Nuctech Company Limited.
