Abstract:

On March 20, 2012, the World Bank released a report on suggesting a more targeted, punitive approach using the criminal justice system to combat illegal logging.  In particular, governments should investigate and prosecute illegal logging, as well as confiscating the proceeds of the criminal activity in parallel with preventive programs.  The two approaches should complement and reinforce each other.[1]
