US.-Soviet Union Reach Agreement on Chemical Arms

On June 1, the United States and Soviet Union Governments concluded an agreement on chemical weapons that requires the destruction of the vast bulk of the United States and Soviet declared chemical-weapons stockpiles and provides for on-site inspections to verify that destruction has occurred.
