Abstract:
On June 30, 2015, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, seeking the civil forfeiture of approximately $34 million, representing the cash value of shares in a Canadian energy company that the company used to bribe Chad’s former Ambassador to the U.S. and Canada in order to influence the award of oil development rights.
