Abstract:
On June 2, 2016, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) announced the issuance of final rules, imposing a near-total ban on commercial trade of African ivory. They revise the African elephant rule under section 4(d) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) [50 C.F.R. 17.40(e)] on June 6, 2016. The FWS has also published guidance, which will be effective July 6, 2016.
