Abstract:
On June 25, 2015, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, seeking to forfeit assets which are the proceeds of bribes and kickbacks received by the businesses controlled by Gulnara Karimova, the elder daughter of Uzbek President Islam Karimov in an effort to obtain wireless frequencies and other deals in Uzbekistan. According to the complaint, the property for which forfeiture is sought is located in Belgium, Ireland, and Luxembourg.
