Abstract:
On December 12, 2013, the arrest and treatment thereafter of Indian deputy consul general Devyani Khobragade in New York has caused retaliatory action by the Indian government and significant diplomatic tension between India and the United States. She is charged with submitting false documents in an application for her housekeeper to live and work in the U.S. and not paying the housekeeper a minimum wage.
