Abstract:
The United Nations Comittee on Crime Prevention and Control, at its Tenth session in Vienna on August 22-31, considered ways to implement the conclusions and recommendations of the Seventh United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, concerning the role of lawyers in criminal defense work.  The implementation has great potential significance for criminal defendants in countries in which access to lawyers is not guaranteed.
