Abstract:
On August 2, 2016, the defense ministers of Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines agreed to start conducting joint patrols and allow each other’s maritime forces to pursue suspected criminals in their waters in an effort to stop a surge of hostage takings by Islamic militants.
