Abstract: 
Talks with German firms over the use of Nazi slave labor and with Dutch banks over money and property seized during the Holocaust continue with an agreement finally reached with German firms. On June 12, 2000, U.S. and German negotiators achieved agreement over slave and forced labor suits. Under the deal the Clinton Administration would formally state in court that it believes it is in the foreign policy interests of the U.S. to dismiss pending and future lawsuits. The U.S. will take the position that the $5 billion compensation fund that German industry and the Government have agreed to establish should settle all claims and that German companies should not be subject to more lawsuits on the issue…[more]
