Switzerland Refuses Membership of European Charter on Social Rights

Switzerland will not become a member of the European Charter on Social Rights (ECSR).  After a long debate and an emotional public debate, both Chambers of Parliament have refused to ratify the important European document, although the Swiss Government signed the Charter twelve years ago.
