On June 20, 2005, the Spanish police arrested 28 alleged mafia bosses from former Soviet republics in 11cities and resort towns in Alicante, Catalonia, and Costa del Sol. According to the police, the law enforcement operation, called Operation Wasp, was the largest raid on organized crime in Europe in history. Police froze 800 bank accounts, searched 41 estates and businesses, and confiscated 42 Porsches, Jaguars and other luxury cars.
