Abstract:
On September 5, 1985, Piher Semiconductors SA of Barcelona (Piher) pleaded guilty to two counts of violating the Export Administration Act, and specifically to reselling of high technology, national-security equipment from U.S. companies to Cuba and the Soviet Union.  Piher agreed to pay a $1 million fine, and to cooperate in an investigation of the case by Washington, D.C. U.S. Attorney Joseph E. di Genova.  A ten-count indictment was returned in a companion case against two of the company's former senior officials.
