South Korean Tax Authorities Raid French Supermarket Group

On April 28, 2006, South Korea’s tax authorities raided the local office of French supermarket group Carrefour, which is selling its Korean outlets to a consortium for $1.85 billion. Approximately 50 South Korean National Tax Service (NTS) officials made a surprise visit to Carrefour’s South Korean headquarters, seizing documents and computers.
