Abstract:
In an escalating spate of crimes, corruption, and unfortunate incidents, the Saudi Arabian Government has retaliated against the Thai Government. The Saudi Government has taken economic action against Thai workers in response to a major gem theft and a series of unexplained murders of Saudi diplomats and a businessman in Bangkok. The Saudis have considered severing diplomatic relations due to their extreme dissatisfaction with the handling of the jewel theft and subsequent developments. The series of incidents illustrates how criminal incidents and alleged corruption can result in diplomatic strains between two governments with significant economic activity and can result in economic sanctions directed at remedying the lack of attention to crimes committed against nationals?[more]
