Abstract:

On January 14th, 2013, the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations sent a letter to the President of the UN Security Council.[2] Fifty six states from every region in the world – including several Council members – have signed on to this letter. It requests that the Council refer the situation in Syria for investigation by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to ensure accountability for grave crimes and to contribute to sustainable peace.
