In a case now pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, United States v. McGoff, involving the prosecution of Michigan newspaper publisher John Peter McGoff for failing to register as a foreign agent on behalf of the South African Government, attorneys for defendants have cleverly asserted the statute of limitations.
