Provisional measures in extradition and expulsion cases within the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights

At its 6th sitting on January 26, 2011, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted two important documents concerning provisional measures as applied by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), based on Rule 39 of the Rules of the Court: Resolution 1788 (2011) and Recommendation 1956 (2011). Both the debate and these two pronouncements were based on the Report prepared by the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population.
