Abstract: 
On October 15, 2004, according to officials at the Peruvian Embassy in Japan, the Peruvian Government presented a new request to the Japanese Government for the extradition of former president Alberto Fujimori on corruption and embezzlement charges. The extradition request for Fujimori is the second such effort, though Japan has no extradition treaty with Peru. In July 2003, Peru requested his extradition from Japan on murder charges, alleging Fujimori had ordered the massacre of 23 people early in his 1990-2000 presidency.
