Abstract:
On August 14, 2015, the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) delivered its “Award on the Merits” in the matter of the Arctic Sunrise arbitration between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Russian Federation. The PCA looks at cases arising out of international treaties and covers a wide range of legal issues, including disputes over territorial boundaries, human rights, international state investment and trade. Russia is a signatory to both its founding treaties.
