On October 27, 2005, Afghanistan officials announced that Pakistan has extradited 14 Taliban fugitives to Afghanistan, the first such move by the Islamabad government since U.S.-led Coalition Forces overthrew the Taliban government in 2001. The most senior of the Taliban leaders extradited were Taliban spokesmen Abdul Latif Hakimi and Mohammad Yasar, who were blindfolded for the trip by military plane.
