Abstract:
According to a recent estimate, the European Community is defrauded of between 1.5 and 3.1 billion pounds each year. With the advent of the single market, member countries will be encouraged to exercise even more of their powers to trace the criminals involved. Here, Willy Debets from the Amsterdam Police Fraudsquad looks at some of the ways and means of obtaining information, and discusses the benefits of international cooperation.
