Abstract:
The Government of Nicaragua has recently filed suit against the Governments of Honduras and Costa Rica at the International Court of Justice ("the World Court"), claiming that military actions by Contra forces operating from Honduras and Costa Rica violates international law and Nicaraguan sovereignty.  On June 27, 1986, the World Court ruled against the United States in an action brought by Nicaragua holding that the United States violated international law by supporting the Contra rebel forces in actions against Nicaragua.
