Abstract: 
On September 16, 2006, the Mexican government extradited accused drug lord Arrellano Félix to the United States. The extradition, the first where a major figure in the violent Mexican drug trade has been sent to the U.S., represents a major step in U.S.-Mexican enforcement cooperation. Arrellano Félix recently served a 10-year sentence in Mexico. Upon completion of the sentence, Mexican authorities sent Félix by helicopter to the Mexican border town of Matamoros, where he was flown to Brownsville, TX.
