Abstract:
On November 1, 2006, the media reported that the Mexican government authorized the extradition of Alfonso Portillo, the former Guatemalan president, on embezzlement charges in Guatemala. From 2000 to January 2004, Portillo was the president of Guatemala. On February 18, 2004, he fled the country, traveled by land to El Salvador, and then flew to Mexico City.
