Abstract:
In a speech delivered to the Italy-USA-Switzerland Conference of the International Association of Jurists, on September 14, 1984, Edwin Meese III, Attorney General of the United States, praised new cooperation between the U.S. and Italian Governments in international criminal matters. For instance, Mr. Meese mentioned that the U.S. Department of Justice and the Italian Ministry of the Interior have established an Italian-American working group to further cooperation on law enforcement problems which has met several times to discuss ways of more effectively combatting organized crime and narcotics. Mr, Meese also noted a new and modernized extradition treaty and that the U.S.extradited Michael Sindona to Italy immediately thereafter.
