Abstract:

On September 5, 2012, Mauritania surrendered to Libya Abdullah al-Senussi, the intelligence chief during the Qaddafi administration and the brother-in-law of Muammar Qaddafi.[1]

In March 2012, Mauritania arrested al-Senussi as he tried to evade efforts by the Libyan and French governments and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to try him for suspected human rights abuses and acts of international terrorism during his long tenure as head of intelligence for the Qaddafi administration.  Al-Senussi has been a fugitive for seven months, since the Qaddafi administration fell.[2]
