On December 2, 2009, the U.S. Department of Justice filed an ex parte petition with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, requesting pursuant to 26 U.S.C. ยง 7602 leave to serve a ?John Doe? Summons on the court-appointed receiver of the Stanford group Company. The summons seeks to uncover the identities of taxpayers who used accounts with the Stanford entities to avoid paying U.S. taxes.
