Abstract:
On February 3, 1987, Attorney General Edwin Meese III announced that President Reagan would issue an Executive Order which will consolidate responsibility for all federal anti-drug programs into the new National Drug Policy Board, a Cabinet-level organization.  The announcement states that the consolidation will provide policy coordination for the enhanced government efforts to substantially reduce the demand for drugs while maintaining and strenghtening the long-range push of the U.S. to reduce the supply of drugs.
