Abstract: 
On November 4, 2009, an Italian magistrate found 23 Americans guilty of kidnapping a Muslim cleric in Milan in 2003. This was the first instance of criminal prosecution of U.S. nationals for the practice of rendition with respect to suspected terrorists.
