Abstract:
On March 19, 2012, in an effort to curb organized crime in the Naples region of Italy, Italian authorities, backed by the governments of Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg, launched Operation Bad Metal. The operation, the biggest anti-mafia financial operation in two years, resulted in the arrest of 47 individuals and the seizure of over $1 billion in assets.[1]
