Abstract: 

The International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) continues to handle a full load of cases while adjusting to new challenges.

On April 6, 2004, the permanent Judges of the ICTY held a Plenary Session following the adoption, by the U.N. Security Council of resolution 1534. Adopted on March 26, 2004, the resolution called on the ICTY "in reviewing and confirming any new indictments, to ensure that any such indictments concentrate on the most senior leaders suspected of being most responsible for crimes within the jurisdiction of the relevant Tribunal as set forth in resolution 1503 (2003)...[more]
