Abstract:
On February 20, 2001, the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former-Yugoslavia (ICTY) rendered its judgement in the case of Delalic, Mucic, Delic and Landzo – generally referred to as the Celebici-case.
The four accused, of Bosnian Croat and Muslim descent, were charged with having committed several grave breaches of the 1949 Geneva Conventions in the Celebici prison camp in 1992. Their victims were detainees of Bosnian-Serb descent who were tortured, sexually assaulted, beaten, subjected to inhuman and degrading treatment, and often killed.
