On October 16, 2007, Congolese authorities surrendered and transferred Germain Katanga, a Congolese warlord and alleged commander of the Force de résistance patriotique en Ituri (Patriotric Resistance Force in Ituri or FRPI) to the International Criminal Court (ICC). Also known as “Simba,” Katanga is accused of having committed six war crimes and three crimes against humanity in Ituri in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
