Abstract:
On March 25, 1994, the Supreme Court of Hong Kong ordered assistance requested in a summons by the Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and the Standard Chartered Bank in the connection with a criminal tax investigation. The case indicates another success for the U.S. Government in its strengthening of criminal cooperation with Hong Kong, which traditionally has asserted bank confidentiality in refusing to cooperate in requests to cooperate in tax cases...(more)
