Abstract: 
At the January 2006 Justice and Home Affairs Informal Ministerial Meeting the Austrian Presidency proposed a discussion on the further development of Europol. The High Level Conference on the Future of Europe, held in Vienna in February 2006 continued the discussion. The Conference was designed to provide material for the further work on defining the contemporary thinking on the future of Europol. Session A discussed the views of the delegates on the role of Europol in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice, including intersections and boundaries with other EU-institutions in the field.
