Abstract:
On October 25, 1985, the German trade association of electrical and electronic industries (ZVEI) held a seminar in Frankfurt, Germany, on the amended Export Administration Act and on compliance with the Act by foreign consignees. While the seminar-chaired by Dr. Bodo Böttcher, director general of the ZVEI- focused on administrative requirements imposed on foreign cosignees under the distribution license system of Part 373.3 of the Export Administration Regulations, Theodore W. Wu, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement, and Daniel O. Hill, Director Multiple Licensing Branch, Office of Export Administration, both of the Department of Commerce, impressed upon the audience the need to cooperate with the United States Government in order to avoid running afoul of the Act and triggering its strengthened enforcement mechanisms.
