Abstract:
Friction has arised between Namibia and Spain over illegal fishing in Namibian waters. On June 25, 1991, two Spanish fishing vessels were detected fishing illegally in Namibian waters during a routine inspection flight. Accompanying the flight was an EC official investigating problems of Namibia's fishery enforcement. One vessels, the Hernado Carrido, had even painted over its name and removed its country flag.
