Abstract: 
On December 14, 2000, the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime together with its two accompanying protocols ? the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children and the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air - was opened for signature in Palermo, Italy. They were adopted by the General Assembly (GA) on November 14, 2000 as Resolution 55/25. ?y noon the following day, 124 out of 189 Member States of the United Nations had already signed the Treaty, whereas around 80 states had signed both the accompanying protocols?[more]
