On February 5, 2013, the European Commission proposed the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Directive as a means to strengthen the European Union’s (EU) efforts to combat money laundering, especially in the context of implementing the revised recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).[1]
