European Prosecutors, Legislators Seek Accountability for U.S. Renditions

A growing series of national prosecutions and a European Parliament report seek to hold participants in the U.S. extraordinary rendition program accountable for their actions. On February 16, 2007, an Italian judge in Milan indicted 26 Americans and five Italians that investigators have linked to the controversial U.S. policy. An Italian magistrate has issued warrants in connection with the alleged abduction of radical Egyptian cleric Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr.
