Abstract:
On July 4, 2017, the European Parliament (EP) adopted a non-binding resolution on addressing human rights violations in the context of war crimes, and crimes against humanity, including genocide. The title of this resolution is at odds with the classification of “the most serious crimes of concern to the international community” (Article 1) as adopted and defined in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Statute clearly distinguished between “genocide” (Article 6) and “crimes against humanity” (Article 7).
