On June 11, 2011, the European Commission published a Green Paper on the application of EU criminal justice legislation in the field of detention[1] among the different Member States. The Green Paper contains 10 questions, and the Commission is interested in receiving feedback, comments and replies from practitioners, such as judges, prosecutors, lawyers and other legal practitioners. The purpose of the document is to explore the extent to which detention issues impact mutual trust between Member States, and consequently on mutual recognition and judicial cooperation generally within the European Union.
