Abstract: 
On February 8, 2008, the European Commission issued a staff working document examining the connection between organized crime and corruption. The paper identifies situations where organized crime (OC) uses corruption as a mechanism to infiltrate the public and private sectors. It discusses existing counter-measures and concludes that a better understanding of the connection between organized crime and corruption is required.
