EU Agrees Preliminarily on Transparency Rules for Extractive Industry

On April 9, 2013, the EU Parliament and EU Commission agreed to a landmark transparency law that would require all European companies operating in extractive industries to report payments, including taxes more than €100,000 made, to governments of the resource-rich countries in which they do business.[1]
